We are situated in a large semi Victorian house providing a secure and private setting for your children to grow and learn. At Parkfield we have 5 classrooms: The Yellow Room and Rainbow Room make up Little Blossoms on the first floor. As the children grow and develop they will progress through the nursery to the classrooms on the ground floor. The Red Room, Green Room and Blue Room make up The Busy Bees and provide the opportunity for the children to grow in confidence and independence enabling them to prepare for their next big challenge ‘ Big School ‘.
Additionally, we also have secure, fully equipped outside play areas complete with children’s garden at the front and rear of our building. This is the perfect space for exploring and learning about nature and the outdoors.
Parkfield Nursery was established in Carlisle in 1984 by Anne Hooper-Brown. A Mother and Grandmother herself has worked in Childcare since 1975. After Covid Anne decided to retire and although still owns Parkfield, it is managed by Julie Laidlaw, Nursery Manager and Barbara Mason, Business Manager. They lead a team of highly trained, dedicated and professional staff who will support both you and your child throughout their time at Parkfield.
We are a private nursery registered with OFSTED caring for children from the age of 6 months to 5 years. Also, we are a dedicated member of the NDNA (National Day Nurseries Association).
At Parkfield we know that if children have high levels of engagement then they have better learning outcomes. We have found that over our many years of experience that children learn best by participating in activities that they are interested in and by gaining first hand experiences either by having visitors in the nursery, by taking the children out in the local community or fun activities in the nursery. We like to keep our children challenged and provide guided learning opportunities.
Alongside this, continual training for staff is paramount to our philosophy. We ensure that each member of the team is up to date on their training.
